hey clemsonboy, i hate when that happens. try popping the fish twice to get that hook in deep, or buy a heavier rod, and use heavy line so it doesn't stretch.

Gunfish, they had one, but i had to buy 5 of them to get the one i needed...
520, i didnt pop it twice, probably should have. I was using a bionic blade 6'6'' heavy... i have the same rod in 7ft but normally keep in tied with a crig. Is 15 lb enough for jig fishing? Should i look into getting another type of rod?

i use a 7'6" or a 7' with 15lbs p-line. i've found if i am pitching a jig i don't seem to have a problem. up close and personal i very seldom have one come off. it's when i am casting it and have alot of line out, thats when i set the hook twice. i have thought of switching to braded line, but if you backlash it's a biotch...lol. plus it will cut the crap out of you, had that happen one time then never used it again.

Well....i think i am gonna have to get me some 25lb test. i had one pick the jig up on the fall next to a boat dock yesterday and he started swimming off with it, so i laid into her and my line popped. just had tied it on there, no flaws in the line
