Fished Hartwell on the lower end yesterday - sun up until 5:15. Ended up catching about a dozen or so on fluke and Sammy. Really confused though. I fished schooling areas until 9:30 or 10 and lots of schooling activity but almost all the hookups were spots. Lots of missed fish. Then I went to spawning areas and looked for bedding fish. Found one fish on the bed and saw 0 empty beds. That does not make alot of sense to me unless the lake has come up and the empty beds are deeper than I can see.
Most of the action was over by around 2:30. Thinking I might need to change areas of the lake for Saturday to try to upgrade the size of the fish.

I like to fish the same way, Sammy & Fluke, and I live on Fair Play Creek. There were a lot of fish on bed last week during the full moon (was working out of town Mon - Wed.), but had a few friends tell me how many they saw paired up on the bank. Found the same thing you did on Wed evening when I fished. The fish were small and spotted, or silver with lines on their side. Sun evening I fished and caught a chunky largemouth about 1 3/4 pounds and all the rest were small spots. Don't think it's the area as much as the spawn has them in a poor mood. Maybe things will change by the weekend. I'm going to fix the problem by going to Fla. next week where the fish grow big, and there aren't any spotted bass. Can't wait!

Thanks for the info. Have a good time. I made several trips to Florida and always had trips. Good luck.
