True sportsman take deer and fish to help provide for their families and do their part in controlling populations of each.

It sounds like there r some immature little brats on hear that are taking fish out of the lake out of spite. As long as some one takes under the legal limit of fish it does not matter. Just grow up and if you are going to fish be true sportsman about it.

Well it sounds like we need someone to define what the "better" fishery is - one that produces more bites and smaller fish or one that produces less bites but better quality fish?

In my opinion a lake that produces less numbers but better quality, is the better lake. Other wise if you do not care about the size of the fish, might as well fill the lake full of bream and catch tons of fish.

I agree when spotsticker says keowee's numbers have went down but the weights haven't went up but i believe that is because a lot of the fish being taken out are the quality sized fish. unfortunately it would probably take a slot limit of some sort to recover the quality of the avg fish and would take some time at that. What i do see is that as more and more spots invade a lake, the weights drop dramatically. hartwell being a prime example, spots have taken that lake over in the past 5 years and the weights have suffered drastically.

To hell with the redeye, the spots are ruining SC's large mouth fisheries. Eat all of the spots under 2lbs!

There is most def. a problem with lake Keowee. The spots have made that lake horrible. Everytime you go out all you catch is little peanuts that aren't even a pound. I had three outings last year where I have caught over 30 ranging from 1lb to 4lb. and kept them ALL. That is the only hope for this lake is to keep them all. Spots are the worst kind of fish for a lake with Largemouth. Congrats to everyone keeping fish out of the hothole, that is exactly what we need to be doing as TRUE SPORTSMEN to conserve this lake. Do you get offended when you see red lobster or silver bay slammed with people eating flounder, catfish etc?

Do you have a problem jerking a female off the bed and taking her to weigh in a mile from where she is bedding? I bet you dont...

Have you ever ate crappie, bream, trout, striper or catfish?

Did you ever think that pressure might have something to do with the reason you dont have 75 fish days?



Personally I don't keep bass but I have no problem with anyone that does. We won't run out of fish so chill....
