The Cooper River just below the Highway 52 bridge. A small bream on a heavy Carolina rig will get your arm broke. Nice sandy beach area there at mid to low tide.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably be fishing this weekend. I'll let you know how I do. Hey "keeper", would that be on the same side as Gilligan's, or does it matter which side I fish. I'm not very familiar with the area yet. Also, how far down from the bridge would be best. Thanks again for you help.

I think he is talking about the area across from Gilligans...
I'm fairly new to South Carolina and do not have a boat yet. I am looking for bank fishing spots where I can catch cats. Also, what techniques and bait to use to catch them. I have good tackle, having moved here from Florida. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Hey Dude did you ever find you that Secret spot these Good Ol Boys from the South Tried to tell you about? How many fish did you catch and did you hook into one of those Big Ol Kitties? Hope you had a good time.

Hey Boogerman, We did find the spots, and did wet a few hooks, but no fish. We went to Canal Landing first, and after chatting with some fishermen already there, found out the fishing was really slow due to all the rain. Left there and went to Cooper River below Lake Moultrie. Fished there for a while, but no takers. Could have been because of all the boat traffic. Lots of pleasure boaters were out that day. Left there and used my newly purchased map to find another spot below Santee Dam at Wilson's Landing. Rather than go into detail about that experience you can read my other post entitled, "South Carolina; the land of Real Southern Hospitality." My wife and I had a pleasureable in the outdoors and plan on future excursions. I haven't given up on Santee. I know there are big cats to be caught. We are thinking about hiring a guide for the next trip if anyone has any recommendations on who to use. We would like to catch a few big ones and it doesn't matter if the trip is day or night. That is, unless we go by my wife's preference and take a day trip. I think she might be a little scared of the dark after seeing a few gators on Saturday. I appreciate the help on where to fish, maybe next time we'll do better.
