Santee is pretty tricky,You can travel using marked channels.Sometimes this seems silly because you can see there are shorter ways to get there.I generally use the channel markers to get where I want to be,then I will idle in when the depth climbs to about 4'.Or you can follow other boats if'n you feel you can trust themGood luck,Strat284

I run Moultrie all the time. When the depths drop below 6 ft I come off plane.( I have a chip also)

I don't fish down there much but I was always told to miss what you see and let "someone/something" take care of the rest... been so long I can't remember the saying... retiredguy

Even when running the channel markers you have to keep an eye out. A few years ago a buddy was running the channel and a floater popped out of nowhere and cracked the hull. It is a great fishery but very dangerous. Pretty much just let the hammer down and pucker up. If you are on plane and see the bottom, dont stop because you will not be able to get up again. Good luck!

Funny this topic got brought up again .... Went down to poplar creek sat. and some guy fishing a tx down there had put in earlier before we got there and evidentally let the big dog eat in the wrong area and lost his motor.....had some guy telling me about it wasn't 30 mins later we were fishing in poplar creek and sure enough there was a nice bass boat with wires hanging out the boat minus the motor.....be careful where you run on santee fellas.....
