I know it depends on weather,water and others, but about what month do bass go on bed at Santee.

As stated above, usually start looking for the pre-spawnners in mid-feb to march, then head for the beds around the first weeks on march. Unless we have the strange weather like last year. I remeber seeing bass on the cooper river still on beds through the begining of june.

I have never been on Santee, and have 2 tournys, 1 at the end of april and the other at the end of june. What sould I look for, and what type of baits should I use?

518,weekend angler here.I am not very diverse at all fishing in Santee,I fish the cypress trees in shallow water with some deep water near by.I useally use T/R worms,in watermellon red or Redbug colors.Watermellonseed in very clear water.Also will throw white spinnerbaits at the base of the trees.Hope I helped,Strat284

Have seen and caught fish on the beds at Santee as early as late January. Some of the biggest females come in first and avoid all that spring time pressure. Never hurts to take a look, you might be surprised at what you find!!!
