Kevin Harris & Chint Smith had only three fish @ about 12:00 Today but were holding some heavy cards trying to fill their 7 fish limit with three fish in the boat weighting around 14-3/4 lbs they already had it won. Later After noon they figured out what was happening and boated 3 more good fish (6 total) for a total of 24.25 lbs to blow the field away. Winning 1st place, 1st big fish ( 6.10) and 2nd big fish
( 5.90) for a grand total of $442.00
2nd place was the Wicker bothers ( Andy and his bother ) 5 fish with a total weight of 14.35. lbs. A very good catch that would normaly take home first place any day.
Good for $204.00
3rd. Place was Monty Smith and Partner with 6 fish weighing 13.25 and 1 fish being a 2 lb. smallmouth.
There were a total of 13 boats fishing

Good job to them. That was a great limit. Some nice fish in that lake, for sure. We had 3 bites all day, one being a catfish. Oh well, that was our 3rd time on the lake and wont be the last! I cant wait to fish that place in the spring.

jasonR: Monticello in the spring is one of the best lakes around for pure numbers that you will catch. In march and april, you can just go around any bank or pocket and catch 15-20 fish a day on a T-rig. It's a fun spring-time lake.

Congrats to the winners and to the Wickers for their 2nd place finish! We had six bites, but only managed to put two 2lbers in the boat; fish were up under the boat beofore we'd realize they ate the bait. Maybe Santa will put some of them special spinner baits in our stockings so we can compete next time
