The annual spring Gaffney assault on Russell is about to begin. This will mark the 7th year in a row that a group of approx 10 or 12 head down for a fun filled camping, fishing, BS retreat. YUMMY i can taste them spots now...will be at Calhoun falls from the 20th thru 25th. Just wondering and hoping that most if not all fishy will be off beds and we are looking at mainly post-spawn...any info. would be appre. thanks bassnut....will report when i return.

Hey nutt...i was there yesterday, fish seem to be still roaming looking for the bed.reason i say this is that we fished alot of shallow stuff never seen the first fish on the bed.caught fish in serval prespawn areas that have produced in years past.senkos, cb, and c-rig were the best baits for us. the fish seemed to be anywhere from 3ft to 10ft . green pumpkin on the plastics.. seemed to work best.

well its back to the real world...but the trip was a blast...6 days at Russell awesome...the group ended up catching over 250 fishy..enough for a couple big fish fry's - them spots such are mighty tasty...bf was a LM @ 3.10 turned her back...no really BF this trip, but a lot of 1.5 - 2.5 fish range...mostly on SB, SH, and C-RIG. WT between 69-73, saw some bedding fish and cruisers...many empty beds...the next couple weeks the top-water bite should be out of site. Most fish caught below 72 and up the Savannah...hope to be back down in 2 weeks....
