I met Sam at his house around 7 and we took off to Russell to load the boat up. Stopped by Godfrey's and had a breakfast sandwich (bacon and egg) then on to the lake. We put in around 8 and started dropping jigs right away, We were in one spot and the gulls were diving on the water constantly, so, we went over close, dropped the trolling motor and eased into the area throwing the spoon and retriving,, nada.. Finally Sam caught a non-keeper and that was it until around noon. We had gone over to the Ga. side and had no luck, came back to where the gulls were hitting the water. Finally at 12 the fish started hitting and we caugh 7 more Spots. None were as big as Jojo's yesterday but they were keepers. Best 5 probably weighed around 7 pounds. Man, I can't tell you how good it felt to be out on the water after a long dry spell.
It was cold but I was "layered" up pretty good and didn't suffer too much... Fish were caught on Berry spoons (white) don't know the weight. Water temp was 53 and we were fishing around 30 feet down... tightlines... retiredguy
