My bass club, Lancaster Bassmasters fished Wateree on Saturday the 20th. Had 15 boats and 20 anglers. Day started off cold, at 24 degrees. My steering cables were stiff and others were frozen so bad they couldn't turn the motor.
Water was 39 degrees at the start and muddy like chocolate milk. Not good.
It was a very frustrating day for sure. I threw cranks, shakey head, rattle trap, jigs, spinnerbait you name it. NO bites at all. The water did get up to 48 deg in some places by late in the day, but the fish didn't respond. I pre-fished Friday all day and didn't have a bite. That's 2 full days in a row without a single fish. Ugggh.
ONLY 1 bass was caught! Out of 20 anglers! He took 1st place, lunker and team. Caught it on a shakey head at 8:30 in the morning. The rest of us tied for 2nd place. LOL.
CAT T next Saturday should be interesting. I think the weights will be low.
