Duke Power announced today it plans to build a 6 billion dollar Nuclear plant just above the 99 Island dam area in Gaffney SC. This is the same place they started to build a nuclear plant back in the early 80s but then stoppped. RM

Have either of you fellas fished the lakes inside the partially built nuclear plant? I have been lucky enough to pull some strings and get in there a few times and it is a fisherman's paradise. The larger lake (200-300 acres) in my opinion is the best lake in the upstate for size and numbers. I have only fished there 4 times and caught one over 6lbs everytime including one a little over 8lbs. I have only fished the smaller lake on the backside closest to the river once but pulled up on a hump out in the middle and saw the largest group of BIG bass I've ever seen, there were probably 8-10 fish that were 10lbs or better...I nearly fell out of the boat. They all had lockjaw but I probably spooked them when I came up. There is virtually no pressure whatsoever since only a handful of people could get in. I think now that Duke has control of it again it will be impossible to get in there which is a shame because it is by far the best place I have ever fished. If yall hear differently let me know.

I use to get in some years ago but not in the past 6 or 8 yrs. Some big fish have come out of the lakes but like you say, don't think many people will be getting in now. RM
