Does anyone on here fish the Saluda?? I hardly ever see any posts about and was just wondering. Was planning on trying to fish it this past weekend but coudn't make it. Probably will try very soon though. Any info about it would be greatly appreciated.....

I have been twice within the last two weeks. Launch out of the put in at Gardendale and paddle the canoe upstream. Casting thundersticks and striper delights. We have seen a few stripers on the bottom and a lot of boats with folks throwing bait and bobbers, but no one is catching anything. We managed a few bass and jacks. I think with SCE&G not making as many releases (in fact only one within the last few weeks) the striper aren't up in the river as far as we've been fishing. Haven't heard any other reports. Folks are tight-lipped...

Thanks for the reply....was beginning to think no one fished there or there wasn't anything to talk about with the Saluda.... On a side note.... what is up with SCE&G raising the water 10 and 11 feet for the past 2 saturdays... I just happened to look on the river level index online the first sat. and then what, 19 people had to be rescued this weekend for the same reason... seems stupid that they would be raising the water over the weekend....more people on the water then...dunno

Saturday, 05/13, they raised the river for s cnoe for kids event down near the zoo. Wanted some white water down there... This past Saturday, 05/20, I'm not sure why they raised it. Lake folks are complaining that the water will never come back up to full pool with them performing all of these releases and river folks are mad that the striper aren't swimming upstream with SCE&G not making periodic releases. (It's hard to please everyone.) Anyway, to give you some background for fishing the Saluda-- We did really well back in August-- caught quite a few in the 10-12 pound range fishing topwater... Since they have not been releasing water from the dam on a consistent basis, we have not been doing anything. In fact, we won't be going to the river until SCE&G makes some more consistent releases. We will be concentrating our efforts topside on the lake... Take care and good luck out there!
