Ok lets try something a little different. This should be a topic everyone should have something to say about. It the last 30 years many soft plastic baits have come and gone from the World of Bass fishing. If you could have any one bait back on the market which bait would it be and what bait company made the bait?
Mine would have been the Ribbon Tail Snake from Manns Bait Company that was introduced in 1986 and only was marketed for a year and then it was gone. I know they made the Auger Tail Snake which is still made today. This was not that one. It was a true Ribbon Tail Snake about 10.5 inches long. Basically it was a snake head and the rest was ribbon.

No JoJo , it was not the Mannipulator. Manns Bait company made this bait and had proto type versions of it made for promotional films and Paul Elias introduced it in his 1986 Video of Worm Fishing with Paul Elias and I got to see the snake in action and when I called Manns Bait Company in Alabama they said that they never marketed that particular snake because they didn't feel it would sell..... I spoke with Paul about it one time while I had him out on a guide trip and he said those folks at Manns Bait Company could not see a great bait if you smacked them between the eyes with it. He could not even get any more of them after he made the film and he was sponsored by them on tour. Now as for your double tail 5 inch ribbed worm. I have never seen one so can't help you with that unless you have one of two and I can have molds made of it and probably make it. I think I can get you the Blue FlipTails right now since I have that 7.5 inch mold along with the 9.5 inch version also. I also have a small snake I use alot of called a Baby Viper on my web site under snakes. It works along banks and around wood and when a fish takes it they hit it hard. Not like a worm bite. It is similar to an Auger Snake but tail is more of a ribbon with a defined snake head.
Booger, are you trying to get trade secrets...... There are several different mold makers out there. I'll send you a PM of a company.
You can find everything you need including starter kits to begin making your own soft baits. Let me know what material you have left after you have tried your hand at it and I may buy what you have left..... . I have bought material from three guys so far that thought they wanted to make their own baits...... I have let guys sit down and spend time in my bait pouring room an try to make some baits for themselves. Most of them last 10 minutes or less before they place an order at tell me to call them when I have got them done. I started out with one of their beginner kits about 10 years ago and now I have approximated $35,000.00 invested and still adding new molds every year and having custom molds made almost every month.
Plug, Let me know what color you like in the Auger tails in a PM and I will see if I can locate them for you. I know a Manns Rep that has been able to get me things from time to time and I will ask him for you. As for the Bagleys, I have not seen those for quite a few years now. I never cared much for any of the fire tail baits because Blue Gills love them red tails........ I remember that Culprit Purple worm with the red tails also. I use to be a Culprit worm guy before I began making my own but like I said I was never much for anything with a red tail. I have the Culprit 7.5 inch worm molds that I make my own worms from now. I make my version of Red Shad in it, Tequlia Sunrise, Black Grape Shad and solid Black. It is one of my go to baits still.
