HERE'S WHAT I HAVE:
Javelin 400 TE
225hp Mercury EFI (25" MOTOR)
12" Jackplate
23" Prop (to test with)
HERE'S MY SITUATION:
Just had this motor put on my boat. I realize that it is not of the "norm" to have a 25" shfat motor on a bass boat, but it was a great deal and I'm stuck with it...lol. I ran the motor for the first time yesterday and it is incedible. The installers raised the motor up approximately 3 inches on the jackplate, but I think it may need to be adjusted. I noticed that a "turkey tail" (not sure how to describe it) was spraying from in between the motor and the transom.
QUESTION:
So with this said, I'm wondering if the problem is with?
a. Motor Height
b. Prop Size (23" used just to test with, I'm thinking about a 26")
c. 12" Jackplate (Never seen a jackplate this big/bulky before, seems a bit much actually)
Thank You,
Daryl

find a 20 " midsection & convert it to a 20 " motor..
The prop shaft on the gearcase will need to be even w/ the pad to start making adjustments for best performance.
I do not beleive you will be able to get the motor high enough to make the boat perform properly w/ 12" of setback & it being a 25" shaft. You would need 8-10 inches of verticle travel to get it up high enough. Most jack plates only give you 6-7 inches of verticle travel.
Also the boat was not designed for that much of a jack plate 6-8 inches is the max I would use as to not have stress cracking..
just my opinion..
