I just scored a Tour Edition, 24V, 82 pound thrust trolling motor. Pretty sweet, right?
I am going to be replacing a 12/24 56 pound thrust MG on my 1994 Skeeter.
Prior to instillation, I have two questions and I will appreciate any help/guidance.
1. The way my boat is wired, there is a switch in the rigging compartment: one side is 12V/Charge and the other is 24V. I have always just ran it, and the old TM, on the 24V settings, while moving to back to the 12V/charge side when, you guessed it, I charge the boat. Can I just hook up the new 24V motor the same way and run it with the rigging compartment switch set to 24V or should I rewire everything so a lead goes off each battery and a jumper inbetween. If I rewire, what gauge wire should I use?
2. Do they make a bounce buster to fit this motor? I have one on my old motor and it has served me well. If they don't, is a strap just as reliable option as the Ram Mount?
Thanks for your help. I know I can always come here to get reliable answers.
