a buddy is having problems setting up his boat. As of now he is only running 62mph GPS and rev limiter going off at full throttle & full trim 5800rpm. he is running a tempest 26p ...any help would be great ...thanks

Sounds like a lot of prop slip. Tell him to level the trailer on a pad then trim the motor down and put a torpedo level on the cav plate. Measure from the very bottom of the pad of the boat to the ground write down that number. Then measure from the ground up to either the center line or the prop shaft or the center of the nose cone on the Lower unit. Subtract that number from the first. That will let you know how far below the pad the prop is. A good starting point is 3.5" below the pad. Have him start there and go either up 1/4" at a time until his water pressure starts to drop at full trim and the boat won't lift anymore at full trim. The rooster tail should be even with the top of the motor or just slightly higher than the top at wide open throttle and full trim. I'd say from the tuna schooners I've seen between 3.25-3.75" below pad is just about right.
