I changed the oil in the lower unit today and the Oil was real Milky looking. I know it has water in it. The seals for the Drain Plug and Vent Plug look good. Any other sugestions?

You need to take it to a dealer or someone who repairs boat motors, because the prop shaft seals are probably leaking. If it is a Mercury it will have 2 prop shaft seels that fit around the prop shaft and into the gear case. The first seal to go in seals the gear oil in and the last seal to go in seals out water. They go into the lower unit reversed from one another.

Like mentioned above its just that time..lol

I would run a pressure test on it to see where it may be coming from.

Reseal the case & then pressure test again to be safe.

Your motor type and model and your location would help us out more. CM

as long as it does not freeze and you replace the LU oil/grease each time you go out you can wait for a few weeks. with the boat shows and such right now most dealers are running skeleton staffs as they are all driving boats back and forth and helping set up. the weeks after are also not great as the new boat owners want their rigs NOW and most ( not all but most ) will put a LU repair on the back burner till they get some of the new boat people out of the way as they make more on a new boat than a LU repair. if you are mechinacly inclined and have tools you with the help of a shop manual can do it your self. I had a guy do the PS seals for a 225 pro max ( racing motor) do it in my yard and he brought over a pressure tester. took him about an hour and a half and it was fine afterward cost was roughly about 75 dollars ( parts included). If you want his pH # he is over here by me in antreville and works for a major marine dealer in the area. also you may want to call lake secession marine as they dont do boat shows and may be able to get you in and out in a hurry.

LUCKYCRAFTMAN, 1996 Mercury 150 EFI Serial #OG396415. IF you could email me those part numbers @ dkay225@charter.net I would appreciate it. Did you replace any bearings in the lower unit while you had it tore down. If you could can you get those for me to.

Thank You for the HELP
