Have a 1995 johnson 150 faststrike. i need a starter. any idea how much and where is the best place to get one?

Where you at? You can order one directly from Evinrude www.shop.evinrude.com or you can surf the net for parts suppliers or if you are near Anderson you can call Kim Sargent at Affordable marine parts 864-287-7777 and she can get you an aftermarket from Arco that has a year warranty it lists for $165.00 from her. You could take it off and take it to an auto alternator shop and see if they can rebuild it also.
