I have a 2001 Johnson 225 hp serial #G04915058 on a TR20 Triton. The engine is running fine. It is getting oil, it is not losing power, its not making any funny noises. When I start it up and after it goes through the check process then the check engine light and buzzer comes on. The buzzer will sound for about 10 -15 seconds and then stops while the light stays on. We ran the boat last Saturday while we were fishing a tournament. Everything seems to be running ok, but I cant figure out what the buzzer and light is coming on for. Anybody have any suggestions of what could be causing this?

Look next to your VRO pump, on the bracket next to it you'll see a round cylinder with two wires coming out of it. that's the vacuum switch. It monitors the fuel flow to the motor. It generally sounds off over 4,500 RPM to alert you of a lean condition. Unhook the tan wire and restart the motor. If the alarm goes away then that's the culprit. They are pricey though about $100.00.
