Pulled up from the seat one too many times on the steering wheel. Loud pop and then no control on the tilt. Still steers fine and actually can lock it into place in the highest position (truck driver style).
Any ideas?
Is it safe to drive?

After inspecting today. One of the teeth on the tilt mechanism has broken. I can still lock the wheel in 3 of 5 positions.
The steering is made by Teleflex and the entire part number is HH5290. The tilt mechanism is part HA6123.
Question:
Can I replace the tilt mechanism without replacing the pump?

Kim, I posted a response earlier this morning but the boards are working so well, it looks like it didn't take. Pretty sure you can replace the tilt assembly. Call teleflex tomorrow to verify. I would imagine you can.

Get this....
Called Teleflex. They said I had to use a retailer.
Told me to call Keefer's or something like that in NC...
Keefer's told me they couldn't sell me the part that I would have to call J&S Guns in Easley.
Called them. They said they were a gun shop. I said no &%%*.
They called me back and said they had made a mistake and they might be able to order the part. They said they would let me know but never called back.
Talk about run around.

Call these guys Boatsteeringrebuilders 210-317-7035 they rebuild teleflex systems and can probably get you the parts. :thumbs_up:
