I need to replace the motor on the trim and tilt. Looks like it is simple 2 screws and 2 wires that plug in. However the wires go through a gromet when they come through the bottom of the cowl. How do you get those wires out to replace them? Cant seem to get my hands in there. I know there is prolly a trick so any input will be greatly appreciated.
Its a 2009 Merc 250 optimax Pro XS.

Need to remove the belly pans. If its an '09 it still should have some warranty left doesn't it?

Yes it does. The reason I was going to change it because the original went out last year while fishing the heartland classic and the only one in town was a reconditioned one. They put it on and when I got back my marinara got me a new one through warranty and now the reconditioned one is going bad. I was looking at it and it just looked pretty simple to change and I wouldn't have to drive to anderson. The wires is the only thing I can not get to.
How do I remove the belly pans?

Take off the motor cover, look at the back side latch and there should be a bolt or two connecting the halves, then under the front side of them there should be one or two bolts, take those out and then look at the front motor latch. Loosen the left nut and separate the halves.
