I have a 2001 merc 225 Efi and my starter went out, when i took it off the 2 bolts running through it were broke off in the bottom cap . Any reason for this ? and can it be fixed ? Thanks

Are they broke off in the block?
Not an easy job but they can be reverse drilled and removed in most cases..

No. The starter has 2 long bolts that run through it to hold the bottom cap where the brushes are up to the main tube...they broke off in the bottom cap ...

You should be able to get them out with an ez out.
