championman,i got a problem......i busted my aluminum prop sat.i want to go a stainless steele but ive had alot of conflicting advice.i looked on the inter net and found a prop in my price range but i dont know if it will work,i have a stratas 268 with a johnson 90hp ive been running a 14x19 alumunim in the 5400 to 5500 rpm range at wide open throttle.the prop im looking at is 13 1/8 x 21,i was told that for every inch of pitch(you go up ) you lose200rpm and my thinking is that if this is true ill lose 4 to5 hundred rpm in pitch.but by going down in diameter i gave gain that back.what do think?if you have ever replaced 1 on a motor my size tell me what you would recomend.thanks for any help.

Gillbass,
First you are changing from 'luminum to stainless, an aluminum prop has a bunch of flex. a SS don't. Your 268 with the 90 should be able to turn a 4 blade renegade 17" or a shooter in the same size they both are 13.5 in hubs. You may also be able to turn a 20" raker. I may have a 6" plate by the weekend (used) TH marine.

what do you think about a 3 blade prop,im looking at the ballistic 13 1/2 x 21 or 22,or the rapture 13 1/4 x 21.both props are made by michigan wheel.boat-props.com these arein my price range right now.

The 21 may be too tall. Thats going to bring your RPMS back too much without a jack plate.
If you went back with a 19 stainless your rpms will drop by about 100 rpm just because the ss wont flex like the aluminum..
Let me see what I can find..
Mike

the 13x19 i got from you last year was too small,i would blow it out ,out of the hole and when i made sharp turns i also had to watch my rpm's i could turn it 5800.i turn the 14x19 5500 (alumnium).

I'm not a big fan of the Michigan wheel props, they are OK for a spare but they have no performance #'s.
