I was wondering if somebody could help me find a part for an old Mercury 20hp engine. The pull cord broke on me out on Greenwood and we had to take the recoil off to get to the end of the rope. The recoil is spring loaded and while we were trying to put it back on the nut that holds the recoil on popped off and now resides in 20ft of water. It is a backwards threaded nut and is made specifically for those type engines. Any idea where I could get a replacement?

Do you have a pitch gauge to check the thread pitch Also when you say backward do you mean lefthand thread? Does it look to be finethread. if you can get the pitch i can get the nut in plated or stainless steel. I will also need the diameter You can measure this with a tape but a micrometer would be best . May be able to get a locknut too
