Fished sat.morning from 6-12 with my buddy Steve. Caught about 8 between us. 1 dink rest about 1-1/2 to 2-1/2. Overcast day, water 83-84. caught a couple off docks early, the rest were off of steep rock banks in 10-12 feet. 1 off a shallow cb, rest off of t-rig and shakey head. Pretty good day, not a lot of boats or jetski's for a July 4th weekend.

Is Moss Lake the one near Shelby/Kings Mountain? I've heard a lot about it since I moved here. Can anyone fish there or do you need a permit? Any restrictions on the boat? How's the launch? Thanks for any help.

Yes that is Moss Lake. There are no restrictions on boats. daily permit is 10$ for boat and 3$ to fish. Yearly permit is 50$ for boat and 15$ to fish. Has probably one of the nicest landings anywhere 8 or 10 ramps, new set of docks, pretty good parking, lit up well. Can be a tough bite at times. They have thurs. nite tx, and maybe one other. Nice little lake, close to home for me.

I would like to fish that lake but last time i checked there a few yrs ago there out of county and state fees/permits were ridiculous, addtion to your regular fishing license, i know that lake can be tuff cause some of shelby residents come down here to fish my home resivoir, but i know for a fact some hybrids have been caught there along with sum big bass, so there defantly there but like any other lake you have to put your time in on that body of water to learn it, but i dont know if they have a boat /motor hp restrictions, and if they have a set time you have to be in on night fishin

They used to lock the gate to the ramp at 10 pm, but they no longer do that. I have night fished well past midnight. There are no boat or HP restrictions, not sure about out-of-state fee being higher than regular fee of 50 bucks a year.

Picked up my lake permit today. There is an office at the lake, and as far as I know it's the only place to buy them.

Out-of-state yearly boat permit, same as in-state $50
Fishing yearly permit $15 per person
Daily is available for 10$boat, 3$ fishing
They do not lock the gates, so you can fish all night.
Fish limits are same as state regulations
There are no HP or boat restrictions
Lake office is open from 8-12, 1-5 weekdays, and I think till noon on sat.
Office phone # is 704-482-7926

They also have a pretty nice campground as well!
If you need any more info. give me a shout or call the lake office.
