I moved from SC to NC two years ago. In SC you title the boat and motor, but not the trailer. In NC you register the trailer and title the boat but not the motor. The date of record for taxes is Jan 1 and I belive all they tax in NC is my trailer. The hardest thing was to get Greenville County SC to quit taxing my motor - since I never titled it in NC they never took it off of the SC DNR databse and Greenvile keeps wanting me to pay taxes.

NC sure likes to tax stuff. My NEW boat which is now 3 years old is now valued at 2/3 of what I paid for it. I bet MIKE wouldn't give me that on a trade in but aruging with them folks is a losing deal. Its best in NC not to own much.. and get your welfare money before they start making you take random urine tests. Right softy?
