Well, I hit the water about 11:25. Put in at Blythe Landing. A nice facility, but I was glad the toll booth was closed - $8 for a ramp fee sounds steep to me! I headed toward the McGuire hot hole. I didn't want to use plastics much because I wanted to explore and see a lot of water - fish faster than probably was appropriate for the temperature. Any way I fished the docks in the cove to the left as you enter with a shad Rap and JnP. Shad rap was jointed natural JnP was Dave's 3/8 oz Texas Crawdad with Green pumpkin chunk. Fished up into the hot hole - were about 6 boats already in there. Didn't stay there long fished the island (has a park on it) directly opposite the hot hole with a gulp plug and a C Rig. Fished the Rock shoals that are marked between the two islands. Fished the Island to the west all the way around. Tried 5/8 oz FF Shad, Gulp, Shad Rap, Staysee, pointer 78 and C rig with green gourd finesse. Talked to guys in hot hole all of which were fishing plastic and they were not getting bit. Put on my doodle rig with white small fluke (JoJo special) and got a spot that was a nice fish but skinny (16” 2.3 pounds). That was at 1:30. At 2:30 I got another one on the doodl3e rig that went 2.4 ponds. Lost one at the boat at about quarter to 3 that looked like a good sized largemouth (3 to 4 pounds) it broke the line. Anyway nice day to be out. Saw a few people that said they had a couple fish, but nobody was tearing them up, except for a guy and his kid fishing live night crawlers on a C rig or river rig. They kept about 10 fish I guess.
It was a great day to be on the water. I got some rust off and managed to get my line stretched.
