I'm now carrying a new line of rod blanks made specifically for custom builders.

Lightweight, sensitive, and all the other stuff you always hear. Matte gray (slate) in color.

Closest comparison I can make is they are a lot like Loomis IMXs.

Standard build includes:
cork split grip (3" handle)
split reel seat (on casting rods)
micro guides
hookkeeper
your name if desired

19 models available, casting and spinning configurations - $185 each.

Example: 7', Heavy power, fast action, 3/16 - 1 oz lure, 12-20# line - 3.65 oz total weight

Contact for details.

how much for just a blank?

a crucial 7' is somewhere around 5oz without the reel prob skeeter, but thats just me guessing... its hard to find a 7 footer under 4oz

Drop me an email for blank prices. Depends on the blank.

Not sure what Crucials weigh, but it's going to be over 4 oz... 5 oz sounds about right. Most of my 7's are under 4 oz built out. When you get into XHvy you will go over 4oz though.

Example - the only sub 4oz rod in the St Croix Legend Xtreme ($370+) is a medium power. They have some light powered spinning rods in that line up under 4 oz as well.

My 7'9" one piece flip stick is 4.8oz.

thats lighter than kistler helium flipping sticks... Impressive...

im looking for something in a 6'9'' if possible. MH and as fast as possible.

shoot me a PM or email when you get a chance I def want to price some of your blanks.. Keep in mind this is a hobby project of mine for my own personal rod collection... not something im gonna try to make money on.

I appreciate the responses. I searched for, but couldn't find the weight of the rods I have.

Thanks,

Britt

OP - thanks. I think you'd be surprised at the amount of power in that flip stick too. PLus it's durable.

One of the advantages I get is cherry picking from 7 or more blank lines for whats best all around for that particular rod or for you as a fisherman. The other is being able to not be held to only using off the shelf products and standard build styles. I'm not cranking out rods by the 1000s so I have time to tinker.

Britt - One reason they don't post is consistency. St Croix makes very consistent blanks and the weight tolerances are pretty close among the same blank models. Some manufacturers have very large margins allowable within the same blank - especially the ones coming from overseas - it can vary as much as .25 oz. Hard to advertise a weight of 4 oz when you get the rod and it's 4.25oz. Unhappy customer - so they just avoid it. Another thing making lower priced rods heavier is the amount of filler in the cork. Better grade cork is more expensive but lighter. Filler is heavy.

Awesome! Glad to hear it went well. I definitely want to see pics.

Should end up weighing in the 3.7oz neighborhood on that blank.

OPjr got one of the new blanks in a kit I put together that are loomis IMX clones. Building the rod himself! Go ahead! Great rod - great price too!
