Championman we lost some good information on buffing a boat hull when we had the server outage last week. You had indicated the type of discs to buy and the sequence in which to use them. I was not clear on if we were using those discs with just water or some other polish/ compound. Would you mind reposting on the topic of buffing out a boat hull?

No problem Cooter. First thing is you need to be familiar with a orbital buffer. You can get one from Harbor Freight for about $35.00 on sale. It is a very good deal for a pretty cheap buffer. As far as the buffing pads you need to go to your local auto paint shop and talk to the counter people. Explain to them the condition of your top cap. If it is really bad you need to get the Black pad and a 1000 grit liquid 3 M compound. You can get a quart for about $20. If your top cap isn't that bad get the green pad and the 3M perfectit III and set the buffer on #3, keep the buffer moving. Cover everything in the boat with a tarp and put a apron on you.
Give the top cap and hull about 2 passes each of the perfect III with the buffer. Take a fresh sponge and wash hull with clear H20.

Buff top cap and hull with McGuir's fine cut. wipe hull with micro fiber towels. Boat should be looking real good. Apply either a good sealer or a good wax, I prefer McGuir's waxes and polishes.
Wipe down the top cap with a micro towel and then buff the final results with the lambs wool pad to bring out the luster of the boat.
