I recently got an E Z troll box to recess my foot control and was thinking about doing it myself. But I would like to know if anyone has installed one in a 1998 191 champion. And I was wanting to make sure that there is room under the deck to cut the hole. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Basschamp

We've done a bunch of them in many boats. The best way to double check space is to pull everything out the rod boz & take a flash light & look under the deck. If your front storage box comes out then you can just remove it & get under there.

On your boat all the wiring should be run on the drivers side upper gunnel.

The other thing to look for is to locate the front cross member brace. Some boats have them & you dont want to cut through it as your deck will sag...

Actually on your Champ it is a Mt. Home Champ and the TM wiring goes up the passenger side, remove the access plate on the bow panel and take your cell phone and snap a picture underneath the casting deck. You will want to bring the cut out back towards you about 3" as the depth of the recess will make your leg stretch out if you lean on a front post.

Mike, what is a typical charge for a recessed tray installed. 06 ZX 200. Can you install a padded deck on this same boat?

The trays range from $85 to $140 & the install is about $100.

I have the same box in a 1996 191 elite. It fit fine. The thing you want to think through is drainage into the bilge if you plan on fishing t in the rain. Mine was in there when I bought it. I had to take it out and put some plastic in place to make it drain into the "V" and the bilge and not my rod box.
