depends on what your going to do with it.
You can upgrade to big bore carbs & change to 2.6 heads but your biggest improvement is going to be by adding more compression....
Also remember that this will shorten the life span of that motor..
My suggestion would be find a early 90's 150 or 175 - a 60 degree motor..

thanks for the info
what year carbs do i need,85 and older, or newer. i seen 86 and newer 175 have a larger bore than the older ones,

It would be better to just find a mid 80's 235 , a 88-90 175 or a 2.6 GT.
Most likley can get one for 800-1200 for a complete motor.

Can't make it if you can't suck it in and push it out. But the flat back GT-150 Won't make it to 175 with out mods. You have to spend some money and give up reliability to make the conversion. If your gonna spend that much then make it a 2.6 GT and have a haul a$$ motor be good for about 100 hrs then have to rebuild if you don't blow it in the 1st 20 hrs.
