Hello all,

I'm having problems with my motor over the past couple of months and need some help. When I start the boat it fires right up, but after 5 or 6 minutes of running on plane it starts acting like it gets starved for gas. I've changed the plugs, fuel filter, fuel line and put some Sea Foam in the gas.

After I did all that it ran great for about a week and then started doing it again. I put gas in it from the Keowee Marina and I'm starting to think that's the real problem!

I'd really appreciate some suggestions, I've run out of ideas and will probably need to bring it to someone smarter than me. :-?

Guys,

It's a 2 stroke, I was running it yesterday and it started to backfire. Now I'm thinking it's and electrical problem. When it goes bad it sounds like it's only running on one cylinder.

I didn't change the line from the buld to the motor including the connector valve. I've tried choking and it helps a little, not enough to make it go away. When I pump the buld when it does this the bulb is full an won't pump. I thought that was interesting also. When I start it for the first time the bulb is empty and I have to pump fuel into the engine.

my 115 will act like that if I have a totally fouled spark plug

pull your spark plugs and see how the new ones look since its started running bad again. If the bottom one is soaked its prob not providing enough arc.

does it suck the bulb flat when it starts running like crap?

and the vent on the gastank... ive seen this totally shut down a 40yamaha every time it vibrated closed a little. we finally wound up taking it off the gas cap. make sure its all the way open if your running portable tanks, and if you think it might be clogged ease the gascap off while the motor is running and see if it doesnt clean up how its running.

one other thing to check is the fuel flow direction on the primer bulb. (I put one on backwards before... championman is laughing at me right now for that im sure....)
