Ok guys ..... What would be a good rod to put with a Revo SX Casting Reel 6.4.1 ? So you know I am new to fishing and don't want to pay a fortune for this but would like a nice setup to fish Lake Murray mainly .

Come on guys somebody has to have this reel ! ! So can you tell me what rod you have with yours ..........................please.................

A lot depends on what you want to do with it.

It's all up for debate as to personal preference, but a 6.4 reel is a good all around gear ratio. 7.1 is for burning (cranks, spinnerbait, traps, buzzbait) and 5.1 is great for slow rolling.

You got yourself a fine Shaky Head, Senko, Worm (Carolina or Texas Rig), Drop Shot, Flipping, Swim Bait, Frog, Jig, Topwater, Jerk Bait reel. And you can still fish a crank, spinnerbait, traps, or buzzbait with it.

How do you fish most and I can make a rod recommendation. Docks? Banks? Points? Open water?

Give some more info.

Like I said I am new to freshwater fishing . I have done banks,docks and

points .Still tring to learn the lake so no open water yet . I guess what I am looking

for is a good all around (versitile) rod that I can use for everything . I hope this

I'd recommend something med hvy, fast action (fast action is going to have most of the bend in the upper 1/3 of the rod).

1/4 - 3/4 lure weight if you throw lighter lures
1/4 or 3/8 to 1 oz if you throw heavier lures

Softer tips throw lighter lures easier. Stout tips are going to be more towards a heavier lure.

You want something that's also going to be comfortable to throw all day, so look for something light.

I steer most of my customers towards at least a 7' rod if the rod locker can handle it. Good distance on casts, good hooksetting ability because of the amount of line you can take up on the snap.

Look for a rod that has a nice amount of flex but isn't overly "springy" in the tip.

Again, a lot of this comes back to preference, but I know what the guys I build for look for in a rod.
