I bought a Chronarch earlier this year on eBay that was an absolute steal, but when I got it, I learned that the drag didn't work. Rather than mess with it, I just strapped it on a pitching rod, and never needed to bother with it. I decided to take it apart last night, and check out the drag to see what the problem was. I started removing the handle, washers, clutch, spring,...then an extra 2 washers and an extra spring! Someone had taken this reel apart, and somehow ended up adding extra pieces to it. I always end up with leftover parts! Long story short, I cleaned everything up, put it together correctly, and the drag works like a charm.

I can relate to the "leftover parts" thingy, especially when cleaning my Daiwas. I think I will stick with Shimanos just because they are so much easier to clean.

I have two bags with a reel each. 1 Lew's BB1ng and 1 55003C... I don't even try to clean my reels anymore.. lol retiredguy

Yeah RTG.....that old Lews will bring a good price....I think somebody likes the older ones. I never had any Lews they're supose to be good reels....CYA

I tried to repair one of my reels ONCE!!!!!!! Took it apart, realized two things that night.(1) I didn't have the faintest idea what in the heck I was doing and (2) that is why Don Beck down at Fishermans Blessing and I are good friends to this day.............................. :lol:

He got the reel in a Zip Lock Baggie and I got it back ready to fish with for $14.00 :mrgreen:
