Big Worm, which Pinnacle is it?? How long since It has been cleaned??
I believe Pinnacle uses 2 springs in their brake plate hard ware. I can look on the schematic and see if I can figure out anything.

If memory servers me correctly it was a Peak PC10. The problem started soon after I bought it. I have taken it down and cleaned it worked in the shop a few times but then started right back with the same problem. It does not do it on every cast if you pay close attention while you are casting and make sure you press the button firmly then it will work everytime, but when you get in a hurry and fire cast after cast and don't quite hit the button firm enough it happens and you have to press the button a couple of time to get it engaged again. It's almost like it's not dissengaging all the way so that the turn of the handle can't quite trip it back (if that helps). If you think of anything to check let me know. Thanks.

Looked at the schematic and it sounds like the Clutch arm either has a weak spring or the arm is binding on the return. I sent along the url for a schematic it might help.
All else fails HIT IT WITH A HAMMER! Let me know.

Thanks for the info I give another look at it and check the parts you mentioned. BTW I'm not allowed to use a HAMMER. My wife uses the old reels as Christmas orniments.
