Guys I've had a Fuego just a little over a year now. Last fall it started to perform extremely bad, couldn't keep the over run out of it using any size bait. Never had any issues like this with much less expensive reels.
Has anyone else had similar issues or is there someone around who works on Daiwa reels?

I haven't got much experience with the internal workings for the Fuegos although I do own some and all I on is Daiwa. Maybe it just needs a good cleaning and lubricating, but if it is made like a lot of the earlier Daiwa's the ring holding the magnetic pieces in place is plastic (Maybe..... don't really know) but if it is and it has cracked for some reason there will be no adjusting the magnet and they will go to the Zero setting. This means that there will not be any adjusting of the magnets... what ever you do they will stay at the zero setting. If this is the case, you need to remove the ring holding the magnets (outer ring that the adjusment turns) and glue the ring holding the magnet back together, place the mag adjustment on 10 and position the magnet back into the side plate with the 2 notches lined up.

Thanks for the info King. You're right about the magnetic brake. I did have the reel professionally cleaned and tuned, but nothing I do with the magnetic brake makes any difference. Don't know if I'm qualified to take it apart and re-assemble. Is there anyone around that can do that kind of work?

Plz let me know too if you find anyone in this area that cleans and lubes Daiwas and/or Pfluegers... I can handle my Shimanos, but the others are beyond me. Charlie, at Bass Shack, used to do it, but last trip to Shelby he told me he was only working on Abus anymore...says he can't get parts for the others. He did happen to have a bail spring for my Stradic though. Besides, the carp fishermen love the Ambassadors and the pack bait they use eats up their reels, so he always has more reels to fix than he can manage....

I OWN 10 OF THE FUEGO AND SOLS AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ONE ONLY. IF YOU TAKE THE SPOOL OUT AND LOOK AT THE SIDE THERE IS A BREAKING RING ON IT CHECK AND MAKE SURE IT IS SEATED FLAT AND ALL THE WAY AGAINST THE SPOOL THIS MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE. I HOPE THIS HELPS IVE USED THEM ALOT SINCE THEVE BEEN OUT.

Bigfish72 - thanks for the tip, I'll check it out tonight. I checked out the plastic ring last night and didn't see any sign of a break. I like the size of the real if I could just get it to perform like my other Daiwas.
