OH guys you are hurtin my eyes.

As an entomologist I just gotta tell you this AIN'T gonna work.. To start with there isn't just ONE queen.... there are lots of them.. The deal is you have to feed the QUEENS posion..you do that by feeding them a bait and they take it back and feed it to the queens..

There is a neat USDA ARS laboratory in Gainesville, FL called Insects affecting man and animals... unless they changed the name. Go visit it if you ever go by Gville and meet some of my fellow students. (they probably have all retired by now) You might get a tour and find from the EXPERTS that grits belong in OUR stomaches not on the ground for the fire ants to eat. On that same thread gasoline belongs in the boat not on a fire ant nest.

corn meal, grits, oatmeal - don't work. I live in the middle of a pasture and it is total heck to keep them out of my yard. The over and out is OK, but the only thing I've found that kills them is the Ortho..treat mound by mound...sometimes I'll treat 50 mounds in a day.. All the other killers - Amdro, or you name it, I've tried most of them - just move the ant hill a few feet. A couple days after I treat the mounds with Ortho, I spray the yard with Spectricide. I wish there was a cheaper way, but I can't find it...nothing else works and this is only a temporary fix. I can stand at my back fence and look across the pasture as see at least a 100 huge ant hills...

take a shovel full of one bed and put it in another bed and they will kill thereselves... at least that is what my granpa use to say.. dont know if that really works or not
