Does the water temp dictate what ounce size Jig to use?

Yep. In winter you are gonna want a slower fall because of the metabolic rate of the fish. So use a lighter jig with a bigger trailer to add bulk and slow the fall. Summer time brings more active fish and they will eat anything when you stick it in front of them so up it to an ounce of so. Just go with what you feel most comfortable with.

I AGREE WITH GRAALMAT77, BUT I HAVE HAD SUCCESS WITH HEAVIER WEIGHT, JUST KEEP AN OPEN MIND TO TRY ANYTHINKG IF SOMTHIN ELSE DOESNT WORK

when you say smaller size in winter are you saying 1/4 oz or aprox. what. I think a jig is one of the few things i havent never caught a fish on. want to use it a lot this year.they seem to catch quality fish

As a side note: As we all know fish are cold-blooded and thus their metabolism has a direct correlation to water temp. They do slow down on chasing bait, hence- slow fall baits. Bass also know that ounce for ounce, crawfish hold the most protein and when they eat in colder water temps they want the most bang for their buck. Bigger, bulkier crawfish type baits are the ticket. "Fish the Jig!"

cattdaddy, how did your jiggin trip do at murray ? man i missed that grass that used to be there before the draw down... but there still some there at least the last time i was there 3-weeks ago, and i dont even bass fish murray alot, just mainly stripper fish, but man ole man some of them bucket mouths that have exploded from that grass before the draw down...gets your blood pumpin
