I've caught them on crank baits, spinner baits, jigs, lizards, jerkbait, etc. Now you know why my name is CATFISH

R390, Take the rod & reel combo you like the most- tie on a jig and throw it where you would normally fish another bait. Hop it, drag it, swim it, fish it what ever way you usually fish. Watch for a tick in the line, or you feel a heavyness on the line, SET the Hook! You know what they say, "when in doubt - set the hook!". Don't get discouraged - "If you throw the bait -They will bite".

i too have caught my share of catfish while bass fishin, mostly in this one pond where the catfish are very aggresive. they have hit jerk baits, floating worms, and anything you let sit still long enough. haha. caught several in the lake spoonin too. and have seen some monsters caught like that. feels like pulling a truck up off the bottom.

Thanks B10. I have historically fished the jig where you had said - same as aTx rig. I lost confidence in it when I moved to the Savannah River lakes and found the water was clearer and banks were stepper than what I was used to. I have always used a 3/16 oz to 3/8 oz in shallow stained water (High Rock - Yadkin Chain). I couldn't get comfortable with a different depth and water color. I wasn’t sure about rate of fall etc. Will check out Dozer’s article.

That helps catfish. I like knowing how other folks thinkhelps me see it better. Don't know if you remeber I met you at Wylie (I think it was this spring)

Catfish and LDT I can top both of you, I caught a catfish on a black buzzbait once. I've caught a few of them on jigs too.(trying to stick with the topic)
