Im looking at a boat with a 99 Johnson 150. He says with no motor work done to it, it will go 70 mph on a 18 1/2' boat. Is this proably false or what??

I would guess that he is basing his speed from his speedometer. Mine will show that, but it is more like 63 to 66 on gps. I am running a 96 Evin 150 on a 19 ½ ft. Javlin.

Some of the 1991 150 Faststrikes were VERY strong. I had one that would spin a 26 Raker to 5700 RPM,s with no problem. I could run 67 loaded with it on a 364V no problem. The orgional owner had it up to 69 one time in cool weather.
