qUSETION I am looking at a used triton with a 225 evinrude ho 225 04 model good motor or stay away from it any advice thanks in advance mike

That would be a DI motor not an e-tec. I would have the owner get you a print out of the history on the motor as far as RPM profiles hours etc.

Also get the model & serial number & have a dealer look it up to see what issues the motor has had in the past.

Most dealers will do this at no charge or at least we do it for free..lol

depends on how the motor is treated in regards to service & oil...95% never give an issue...

talked to BRP service/warranty claim today and your bud has not had maintenance performed on motor since day on and only claims warranty blow ups even though he will not provide serial number info. I will garantee that he wil be pounding on Merc's or Hammers door as he doesn't know what he is doing.

hey cm, what maintenance are you suppose to had performed on the motor. just wondering because i've never had any done on mine either. jimbo

If its the direct injected motor then you have normal 20 hr & 100 hour (annual) service.

ETECS require maintenance every 300 hrs..(05 & up)

LOL.. on the side of your motor it will say either direct injection or it will say E-Tec.

HO is just a designation for high output
