Hard to shoot a limit in the AM and PM when it's closed in the AM!!! LOL I like to think {if I shot more than 1 limit per day} that the extra ones you get was for the days you have to werk and can't go.. Like it you shoot 50 on Sat. that'll have you covered thru Thrusday as in 10 for Monday, tues...ect...

Need cold weather Up Norf to get more birds. Season starts to early and after 2 weekend you can't get enough people to shoot 'cause it's Buck Blast'n season...I didn't buy a Hunting permit again this year....just lost interest in it....CYA

I'm thinking it's only the first 3 days of the season that are closed in the AM Jo'.

Ya'll ought to see all the birds on the 2 major powerlines that cut my backyard. I counted 58 just on 2 strands and there were about 6-8 more stands to count, not to mention the ones farther away had more birds than the 2 I did count.

Maybe we can luck up and find a place to plant down here next year.

Get "A-Holt" of the county Extension Agent.....if you can get him off the Farmers Daughter he may be able to help you find a feild! LOL

If you see a dove land and then you shoot it...that's "Post-Flight"

You look around and see one sitt'n on a limb and shoot it that's "Pre-Flight"...CYA

Hey Big E,

That question is a very good one. It's one that I've been asking a lot of the DNR biologists and Clemson Wildlife Professors. I wished I had a answer to give you ..... mainly b/c I want to know too. I have noticed too that the Mourning Doves are getting smaller and smaller every year. I know they are always smaller this time of year but it just seems there are more young birds. A lot of people are seeing more and more Euasian Collared Dove in SC ...... I know I see them every afternoon in my backyard. They are bigger, slower flying, and can easily be identified in flight by their 'blocked off' tip of the tail.

As far as a great lab training book ....... it really depends on your current level of training knowledge. It's kinda like you wouldn't give a beginning fisherman a book wrote by Rick Clunn ...... it might be too indepth for them. At the same time you wouldn't give NUTMAN a instructional book by Bill Dance either ......... know what I'm saying?????

For entry level, I like 'Waterdog', '10 Minute Retriever', and 'Training Retrievers for Marshes and Meadows'. 'Waterdog' is a old book, it really started alot of the movement we have today, it was truely a book before it's time. '10 Minute Retriever' is a great book for anybody that wants a good hunting dog but does not have a lot of time, many people still look back into it today after reading it as a reference. 'Marshes & Meadows', I have not read it ( to be truthful) but a good friend of mine swears by it.

If you want a little more advanced book, I like the Smart Work Series by Evan Graham ( 'Smartwork for Retrievers', 'Smart Fetch', and 'Smartwork II' in that order) or the 'Tri-Tronics Retriever Training Book'. Evan's books are VERY VERY INDEPTH in dog philosophy and thought patterns. If you think you understand 'dog' ...... read his books ! ! ! ! Very humbling for majority of people. THe funny thing about most writers is they have a few 'wonder dogs' and write a book ........ Evan's plans work for everybody that exacute them properly. Also the 'Tri-Tronics' book is every good, especially if you plan on useing a e-collar. I find myself referencing out of this book often.

Hope this helps.
