Well, I love a 'project'. Last year it was getting the duck whippin' War Eagle right. This year and carrying into next year is my Camper Shell/Topper.
Quick back ground on the project. I've wanted a Camper Shell for dog training for the past year, but I'm too tight to spurge on a new one. Never found one for my diesel truck. My Father-in-law has a Shell for a shortbed Chevy behind his barn that's sat for years. So he gives me this ugly Carolina Chicken burgandy colored shell with the clearcoat flaking off. I spent 3 hrs/night for a week of sanding.
I put 4 cans of Krylon camo green down as a base coat and then Hal and I got together last Saturday after a duck hunting trip and put the Mossy Oak Break-up stencils to it.
Total Paint required...... all Krylon Camo
4...... olive green
3...... matte black
2...... brown
1...... tan
Future plans are to install flood lights out the back, interior lights, water tank, dual air fan system, and possibly a power inverter. Thinking all this will be powered by a Group 31 Marine Deep Cycle Battery........ which I will probably install something like a single battery boat battery charger for ease of recharging. I had considered recharging by the alternator, but so simplisity I think I'll just go with the boat battery charger.

I'd charge it off your cranking batt.
Just add a cut off switch at the back batt so it will not pull power form the front one when you are camping, etc...
Looks good!!
Why didnt you do the rest of the truck?? lol

Thanks gang !
Topper worked great on the Duck Wackin' Trip. Everything stayed where it belonged and even came back a few pounds heavier (Mississippi Crawfish Mud and Duck Meat that is, LOL) ! ! !
