I know it has been a long time since I posted a report on this lake but thought I would give some updates on it. Previously I post a reprt about if the lake would ever grow up it would be a great lake again. Well, I think alot of folks know about the great flood we experienced last Spring. Folks couldn't fish the lake for almost 1.5 months which the Corps made the lake off limits to all personal water craft for almost the entire time flood water were here. The off limits was from May 1st to June 1st. I did not fish the lake all that much this year until the Fall. In October and early November I fished it about 20 times and I think the lake has grown up quite a bit. Until this year folks were catching long very skinny fish with sores al over them. That problem existed for last couple years. This year I think the flood has helped the bass on Old Hickory considerably. I think the lake had become staggnant and was un healthy. The flood water has flushed the lake out and made in much more fertile again. It also has enabled the fish to regain their health. Al the trips I made out this Fall have shown very good promise for a great year on the lake in 2011. I have caught about a hundred fish this Fall with nothing really big with many fish in the 3 lb catagory but all of the fish are healthy and pretty colors, no sores, great football size fish, Fat and very aggressive. I didn't catch one fish with sores and all of them looked like footballs and many keepers in 14.5 to 16.5 inch sizes. I think the lake has began a new growth factor and finally began to grow up once again. I am looking forward to spending some time on Old Hickory this coming Spring.
