The Patterns on Old Hickory are almost changing as fast as the weather or faster in some cases. The Large Mouths are keyed on small bait fish really hard and the lake is full of small bait fish. There are pods and jumps everywhere. Water temps have been going up and down almost over night. Fluxuating between 72 and 76 degrees below steam plant and 65 to 69 above the steam plant. I have been 3 times this week and finding fish is easy, getting them to bite almost impossible. If you match the hatch with pods of bait fish as big as your boat everywhere you look chances of your bait being the one they hit is a million to one. If you alter your bait to make it stand out or look slightly different the fish will actually move away from it. BFL Classic this weekend should have some interesting weights. It will be either Feast or Famine.
J. Percy Priest Lake on the other hand is producing some good fishing at night still. Fish a Tx last night and won it with about 13.5 pounds with a 4Lb Smallmouth kicker fish. Lake is loaded with Spots and had a limit of those early but was able to cull 3 of them with 3 more brown fish in the 2lb weight size. Spots were coming on 4 inch Finesse worm in Plum before dark and Brown fish came after dark on Auburn colored 1/4 oz. Jigs with Green Pumpkin Pepper (softy)
Paca Chunks.
