heard from a buddy of mine that you can take a bar of ivory soap and keep it in your hull of your boat and when it gets water in it and it sloshes around while your riding down the lake it will keep it clean. and when it goes through your bilge it will keep in lubed. anyone else heard this ? |

thats what i asked but he said thats why it has to be ivory. that its not like regular soap. |

and he also said that the ivory is biodegradeable so its not harmfull when it pumps out into the lake. thats why im asking on here to see if anybody else can shed some light on this before i do it and end up either messing up my boat or polluting the lake. |

I don't doubt Lava soap would probably clean the best but lava soap also has pumis in it which is a grit like substance that may do damage to your bulge pump inner shaft bearings. I would not really want to add any extra grit to the pump bearings because think they get all of that they can stand already......

Dropped one in mine and Im happy to say the pleasin odor is out of this world!! I pulled my drain plug after gettin a little water in the bilge it was like a spring rain out from my boat. But seriously I figure it cant hurt anything and can only help the bilge pumps. Ill keep one in mine now. |
