hey i got an idea for an 11% decrease in gas prices....

stop marketing.....

why the crap do they need to advertise this mess. were all starving bc we have to buy this mess. its a need, not something that needs to have a 10+% markup for marketing...

and someone explain to me again why gasoline isnt factored into the cost of living??? i dont exactly use my majic cape to fly to work in the morning. in my eyes it takes gas to live in this country. not like we have any decent public transportation or anything

11% marketing is;
Delivery charge from refiner to terminal, cost plus margin.
Delivery charge from terminal to gas/c-store, cost plus margin.
Charge to customer at the store, cost plus margin.

Heard this morning that several c-stores are not able to pay (meet the draft
note at the bank for their deliveries) and are defaulting. Retailers are not the
ones making any money currently. (on rising prices)

The only people that have any control over this problem has no plans of doing anything about it. Our Government has sided with the oil companies and the Pharmacudical companies and are getting major money from them for their election runs and everyone knows you never bite the hand that feeds you. I gave up on the American people doing anything about it because they have proven that they cannot stick together on anything any more. The Government ignores us now because they know we cannot stick together and now they don't only ignore us but they fight among themselves on issues if anyone in Government even mentions doing anything that would be good for the country. We have Presidential Elections coming up in November and have no one running with enough backbone to do anything except line their pockets with GOLD while in office. I have watched these election campaigns carefully and while the republicans have settled on a candidate teh Democrats are going to fight to the bitter end. McCain will walk in Bush's footsteps about the war. He has mentioned the economy on several occassions but we all know what is controlling the economy which is fuel and medicines. In his speech last night while accepting the nomination spoke of alternative fuels but nothing pertaining to applying any kind of pressure on the Oil Companies. Means he has no idea what so ever on how to approach the economy issues. I have also been watching what the news calls Delegates and then mentions to powerful delegates which even if the people choose on candidate they want to run for office the Powerful Delegates can still over rule the people and run who they want to run. If that is the case why does anyone bother to vote when you have several powerful people that can just throw your vote out and put in who they please. Sounds to me like the vote of the people does not mean an Damn thing anymore. Now I don't claim to know all the much about all of this form of how they pick candidates by ignoring who the people want but to me it sounds like we have fallen under a DICTATORSHIP more than a DEMOCRACY.
It was also mentioned that some states were not even ready for the numbers of voters that turned out to vote last night. I think it's time to put a uniformed type of voting and it needs to be the same in every state instead of allowing each state to do it the way they want to. To easy to rig voting polls that way. Many states we still using paper ballots while others were using electronic voting machines. That is exactly how Bush won the first election was with ballot counting in Florida and was given the election even before all of the votes were counted. Now I think if there is going to be anything the people can do it is going to have to be now and this is the last time I am ever going to mention this.
Everyone on this web site address one issue and that is that if something is not done about fuel prices nothing can be done about the economy because fuel is the common denominator causing the economic problems. Fossil Fuels control how much you pay for 85% of what you buy from a piece of bubble gum to a house.
Okay , everyone on this web site also have many family members that are not on this site but own computers and all of those folks know other folks that also have computers. Everyone needs to get on the same page before they do anything and see if everyone can stick together on one issue. The Economy. If everyone that has a computer and is on the same page will sit down and address an email to their CONGRESS PERSON and then continue right on and address an email to their SENATORS on the same exact issue and in this email tell their elected officals that if their candidate does not have a 100% fool proof program to discuss in their speeches on how they intend on approaching the Issue of the high cost of Fossil Fuels and the major gouging profits being enjoyed by the oil companies they will not under any conditions get their vote it will have a major impact on what happens. If the people let the elected officials know that they are going to be watching very closely what positions their candidate takes on this issue believe me it will make a difference. I have hundreds of letters stored on my computers of letters I wrote and replies I got from the Senators and Congressmen and women I have written to and in many of those letters I have been told that if they would get more letters from their constituants they could get more done but they seldom have enough letters on issues to take action on bills going through the Congress. Well I do my part and I write. If your going to not write but sit and complain about the cost of Fossil Fuels you are part of the Problem and not part of the Solution. It is going to require a show of force if we want things to change in this country. If you don't want gasolene to be $4.00 a gallon in Spring then gather your flocks together and get writing and if you don't then when your paying $4.00 bucks a gallon don't complain about it. Just succk it up and move on. All you have to do is stick with one issue FOSSIL FUEL COSTS because that is the one single biggest driving force effecting everything you buy everyday from A to Z.
Now I know many folks have seen these petitions going around the web site in protest of everything from soup to nuts and all are addressed to the President. Many of them have around a thousand of signatures on them. Guess what? All one person has to do is fail to pass it on and Poof it is gone. Also if one does make it all the way to the Presidents Email all it takes is one Presidential aid to open it and see it and push the delete button and Poof it is gone. With a flood of letters oming in every day to all of the Senators and Congress men and women many of those letters are going to make it through. That is all I have to say on the issue. You now have two options. You can be part of the problem or you can be part of the solution. The choice is yours.

I can't say I read all that, but I know you're saying the government is at fault.

Consider these:

- Strong demand for oil in Asia is one reason for higher crude prices in recent months, although analysts also said that aggressive bets by large commodity speculators have contributed to the recent run-up in oil markets. Much of the attention on Asian oil supplies is related to the fast-growing economies of China and India.

- The EPA's Tier 2 sulfur control regulations implemented in 2004, to deliver improvements in air quality, are increasing gas prices. Refiners had to engage in research, reconfiguration of their production processes, and in equipment installation to meet the new low-sulfur requirements.

- Today, the US auto fleet is less efficient: 25.4 miles per gallon versus 26.2 m.p.g. in 1987. The large number of SUVs and light trucks, that don't fall under passenger vehicle requirements, lowers this number.

- Gas prices in the 1990s were low enough that companies did not invest in new capital ventures (refineries, drilling, etc) because of the need to meet shareholder expectations.

- Volatile gas prices (lots of highs and lows) cause companies to not commit to capital investment because they can't predict income as accurately, again driven by shareholders.

One thing to consider is these companies are not 5 or 6 guys who are bent on getting wealthy. They want to make $ like the rest of us and make a great living. But if the companies they run don't give the expected return or better, the shareholders fire them. These CEOs and top staff push their companies to make their bosses happy.

And before someone says "Yeah but there's no need for them to make millions and billions personally" think about this... with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation in place (thanks to ENRON), those top guys are criminally responsible for EVERYTHING submitted in reporting. That is if they are audited and someone 8 levels down hid something and it's found, the CEO and CFO can go to jail. You'd have to pay me a LOT of money too for me to sign my name on that line saying all that info is accurate.

But I agree... the prices suck.

I have to say several things about what is happening. I just looked and oil is over $104 per barrel. Gas has to go up at this price. If no one is making any money how come in a mile range you can find up to $.25 differaece in price. As for Asia having a high demand for oil how the hell can there working people afford it. Where is all our own oil from our own country going? I understand most of the oil we use is from Canada and Mexico. Thanks NAFTA for the screwing. When the was started I was all for it. We did not find the WMD's but I believe they where there. We ousted Hussain and set up a democracy. Now we need to get out. If the people don't care enough to keep it where are we to tell them they must. It's sucking our country dry. It is our government that has put us in this mess. JObs are oversea's/healthcare through the rough and gas sucking our wallets dry to where we can't support our econemy. Writing our elected officials is a waist of time. What we need to do is have a Billion man march on Washington and let them know if things don't change not one of them will be around after there next election.  Sorry about the spelling

Well, its all about the OIL The "war" in Iraq, the mess with Iran, Chavez in Venezuala, etc.

We have MORE oil in ANWAR than we could use in 50 years. The moose can't jump an oil line

The EPA should be eliminated as a Govt. department. Fire everyone. Get rid of the regs. Gasoline prices would drop. Of course we would have to re-engineer our vehicles because they probably would not run on the gasoline Henry Ford used

OH WELL if I were KING    I could buy a BIGGER BOAT to carry MORE tackle to catch FEWER fish

Right Jim????

Gas prices really SUCK

I think gas prices are up too but we keep paying and haven't stopped using it like there is no tomorrow. Last time gas went real high in the 70s everyone bought jap cars and we quit using so much. Now they just keep buying gas hogs of all sorts and paying for the gas at any cost. I don't think it's coming down and being retired that scares the chit out of me. RM
