Manufacturer - Rapala
Name - Clackin’ Minnow
Model No- no.9
Type – jerk bait
I felt lucky to get my hands on 2 of the new no. 9 Clackin’ Minnows from Rapala. Over all, it looks exactly like the Xrap (which is one of my primary jerk baits of choice) however you can tell a slight weight difference. The rattle is centered over the front hooks & does give out a good bit of noise.
It has the VMC SureSet Flash Feather Teaser Tail just like the Xrap. The feather /flash combo is a bit longer than it is on the Xrap.
The bill is a Swimming Lip Design. I’m not sure what that means but it looks to be more squared off than the Xrap bill.
In my personal experience the bill of the Xrap lure has been its weakest point. I have snapped off 5-6 just this year. This could be due to my smacking the rocks when casting but I’ve never broken a bill off any other lures.
All in all, I am looking forward to getting them wet & seeing just how well they work. I’ll post an update on its “in water” performance in the next few weeks.
Thanks
Michael Martin
