Well, Stupid me let my son-in-law talk me into actually fishing the Heartland Classic and I should have known better but I knew he really wanted to go so we went. Mother Nature was a real Bi-ch the entire time. Practice consisted of Rain and 15+ winds on Monday, Heavy Rain and moderate rain on day two of practice. Light Rain and 10-15 Mph winds on 3rd day of practice. By then my body was telling me how much it hated me. Day 4 we didn't practice. Wind and clouds all that day but no rain. On Friday morning, 1st day of tournament 210 boats were greeted with high bluebird skies, bright sun and 15-20 MPH winds gusting to 25 MPH with a 10 hour first day event. Safe Light till 5PM and their safe light was first boat number was called at 6AM. All we found the first day 12 to 14.5 inch fish and by about 2:30 my brand new full charged that morning deep cycles were shot and would barely move the boat so our day was over. Wind took it's toll on them. I found out later that it took it's toll on many of the trolling motor batteries on quite a few boats. I have to admit to one thing. I have never fished a more organized well designed Classic or tournament with over 200 boats in it in all my years of fishing. Heartland has it together for sure and they are definately a 1st Class act and would be heard to follow. I'm sure Froggerz will post a reply soon as he gets time. We spoke on Sunday afternoon on the phone. A team from my Old Hickory Division won the event. That made me feel pretty good knowing a team and some friends of mine won it. My health forced us to leave by 11AM on second day. Pain in legs told me to go home and I listened...........LOL.
