It was pretty slow this weekend. I caught a few good fish on a jerkbait, 2 real nice fish that pulled off and this 5.9 pounder. I caught them on a windblown secondary point. I also caught a few on a C-rig lizard. Only fished the lower end. Water really came up saturday night. I saw a few fish on beds, but more empty beds than ones with fish on them. The wind was really howling friday. Anyway had good time on the water. Man, fish look so much bigger in person......pics just cant do them justice.

tight lines,

j

Great catch. Hate to be a stickler but was that 5lbs 9 ounces or 5lbs 9th of a pound. Just wondering because that makes a big differance. I do relenquish my crown either way because the boy looks happy in the picture. One of them priceless shots.

Handheld scales said 5.90. I guess that means 5 and 9/10ths, but i really dont know. If there is any ? put jorgy back at the top cause his fish was weighed by certified scales at a tx and mine was on a twenty dollar handheld. When i bought the scales a couple years ago i put a 5 pound bag of sugar on them and the scale was right on the money. It has a tare button to zero before each fish. The scale is yellow and about the size of doughnut. It displays the time and weight. The scale is in the boat at the lake, so any body has any info about this scale pls help. Either way i will be surprised if that weight makes it through the month. You should have seen how big little man's eyes got when i swung her in the boat. he looked like he was under attack. That look was priceless. BTW boat is tied to dock in the pic, thats why little man doesnt have his life jacket on.

Gamecockman, I dont mean it that way, I guess I was trying to raise the question about the weight system being used. It just needs to be standard for everyone because there are so many diffent scales out there. I just thought that the moderators might want to specify the weights need to be turned in in ounces, tenths of a pound or hundreths of a pound and get everybody on the same level. By all means I hope that you win so you can give the little guy a fishing pack or what ever it is. Pass on the this great past time for the future. I have a 4 year old and 9 year old boy. I know how it is. his weight thing might get confusing or cause a problem in the future and thought it might be a good idea to say something in advance.

5.11 could mean

5lbs 11ounces =5lbs 68.75hundreths

5lbs 11hundreths =5lbs 1.76ounces

I understand and it is a good point to get this on a standard now. I should have been clearer about the weight in the initial post, but i had forgot about the monthly big fish and was just postin info. the scales should toggle back and forth between the two measurements. Maybe i can switch mine to ounces by changing some settings. I will check next weekend and see.

tight lines,
